The first thing we’re going to analyze is the volume compared to the price, in the SPY. Something you want to make sure when looking at the SPY is that the volume picks up in a big way as the stock continues to move higher, you want to be careful if the volume decreases, because if you don’t get enough buyers stepping in to hold the price level, then it could fail.
You should always analyze volume during several days to make sure the stock can sustain higher prices. Once you see a break, you need to look at the follow-through in order to confirm your analysis.
The other thing we’re going to be looking at is the VIX and the market volatility. Personally, I like it when the VIX is higher because it means that there’s more volatility, more movements in the market and you can make more money, that’s why professionals usually like a higher VIX.
Finally, we’re going to analyze the Facebook chart. Something you should always keep in mind is that the market usually moves about 6 months ahead of the regular economics. This happens because it is based on projected future earnings. So when analyzing a stock chart, you should watch the momentum, see how it evolves in the future and then trade according to what the market gives you.
